This November, we will be taking a special offering to support our outreach partnership with the weekend meals program at Trailside Middle School in Ashburn. In Loudoun County, more than 14,000 students qualified for the federal free and reduced-price meal plan as of May 2017. But for these students struggling with food insecurity at home, weekends are an especially difficult time without the school-provided meals. Our partnership with Trailside Middle School aims to close this gap by providing nutritious, kid-friendly food options for students to take home every Friday afternoon.
$2,900 will fund the purchase of food each week for all of the students enrolled in the weekend meals program through the end of the 2017-2018 school year. $5,000 will allow us to continue our partnership with Trailside Middle School AND start a King's Cross Benevolence Fund to help those faced with sudden financial hardship in our community. You can donate online by clicking the button below or make a check out to McLean Presbyterian Church, with "King's Cross 2017 Thanksgiving Offering" in the memo line. We will also have designated envelopes available on Sunday mornings.
